The performance begins with the "lelambatan" named Sekar Mas. Lelambatan (literally “slow pieces”) are the compositions used in the temple for the beautification of the holy area during the visits of the gods and ancestral spirits. A significant feature of the lelambatan is the use of the solo instrument the "trompong", which leads the melody. Slow and graceful, the pieces are preceded by a long and poignant introduction on the trompong.
